Question About Hanger Types

Post by airbuscity on Fri Aug 15, 2014 2:35 am

We all know there are 5 different levels of Hanger and that from level 2 up each Hanger type can speed up maintenance of a particular category of plane on the runway (i.e. loading fual & passengers).

Can anyone clarify though whether you require one Hanger of a particular level for each one plane of the associated category to get the speed benefit, or whether having a single Hanger of that level allows you to speed up multiple planes in the associated category? For example, if I have 2 Jumbos then do I need to have 2 Level 5 Hangers to have them both loaded up at the faster speed or will a single level 5 Hanger give me the speed benefit on both Jumbos (even if the second one is housed in a level 1 Hanger)?

I have 2 jumbos - one is in a level 5 hangar and one is in a level 1 hangar. The one in the level 5 hangar loads faster than the one in the level 1 hangar.

Not 100% sure but I read that even if you buy a level 5 hangar, you have to buy the jumbo specifically for it. Having the hangar won't speed up an existing plane in a lower hangar and the only way to move a plane from one hangar to another is to sell it and buy it again. Fairly expensive proposition for a little bit of speed.

I usually collect coins and passengers while my plane is loading up so I'm busy and the speed is not really a factor for me.

I think you're right drivefast. I have a similar situation with 2 delta's, 1 in a level 1 hangar and 1 in a level 3 hangar. There is no way to move your planes between hangars other than what you said.

The hangar level is tied to the plane that was bought for it. You could have 9 level 5 hangars, and 1 level 1, and if you buy a Jumbo for the Level 1 it will load slow. I just avoid the whole issue and just buy level 5 hangars, much easier that way.

Thanks for the info folks - having the hanger level tied to the plane attached to that particular hanger probably makes the most sense in terms of GI's way of doing things.

Some things about my own airport set-up still don't make sense to me though. For some time, I've had 2 Deltas in blue hangers and a Powerful Delta in a red hanger. The Powerful Delta definitely loads faster then the regular Deltas, but the weird thing is one of my regular Deltas loads faster than the other scratch Question Question

And yes . . . not being able to move your planes between hangers, even when you have a completely empty hanger, is another very frustrating GI "game feature"   Rolling Eyes

Re: Question About Hanger Types

Brief history would be any plane could be bought and put into any hanger, this was changed so that only the plane of the same lvl or lower as the hanger could be stored. This must have been removed....

I have also noticed that clicking on a certain hanger will not guarantee the plane will leave that hanger if you have more than 1 of those planes...
So for more peace of mind I've simply moved and arranged the hangers so that the same plane type are grouped together .... especially handy when selling planes to change type for missions.

Unless changed in the previous update this isn't the case as I've recently put a Turboprop into a lvl5 hanger....
